Title: too much cabbage
Post by: tomatoada on September 24, 2009, 16:36:17
My neighbour on my allotment site has started keeping chickens.   My Mother kept poultry in WW2 and I seem to remember that she would not give them to much cabbage, sprout leaves etc..  She said it gave them the runs and they did not lay so well.   Have I got this wrong  my friend and I want to know??  She has had lots of advice from the people she bought them from but this did not come up in the instructions.

It would make sense, I don't give mine too many greens, i haven't noticed a drop in eggs, but it sure gives them the runs!  ;D
