I have read a lot on other sites of people buying POL hens and after getting them home after a few days the hens are ill and some have died.
Some sellers dont offer refunds or accept returns and would you want a replacemnet if you had bought a sick hen from them.
Hens are big busness now a good seller will guarnantee his hens on paper is even better. Do have a look how all the hens look.
If you buy from a market there is no comeback so read up what a healthy hen should look like.
POL is roughly 18 weeks old pullet, some are selling 15 week old pullets so do check how many weeks old they are. Some pullets lay at 21 weeks some sooner bamtums can be 25-30 weeks depends on breeds.
A pullets can suffer stress being moved like transported from one place to another but after a couple of days should be fine and settle down.
im sirry but if someone buys a ropey hen and it dies it there own fault really, if they take time to check each bird over correctly, get proofs of immunization there should not really be any problem. it is all about knowing what your looking at, if you buy one cos it looks sad and it dies, well what can i say.
Someone who hasn't kept them before may not know what to look for.
in that case they should research it correctly like you would any animal and then they should/would know what to look for.
Book knowledge is one thing, experience is another. You shouldn't be so intolerant.
Not all health problems are evident when purchasing, some virus/disease may only become apparent after an incubation period.
im not going to bother arguing it anymore, if you are blatantly stupid and cant see whats wrong or right its your own fault, when your hens die because of this i was site a laugh at you and all the people who have suddenly found it cool to keep hen/allotments.

How rude and insensitive! Did you never make a mistake? I thought this forum was partly to seek help and to help others, not laugh at their downfalls! You may think you know all there is to know about poultry, but I hope you still have time to learn about compassion and manners!
lol. you crack me up. :D :D :D :D :D :D.
what give you the right to tell me how to behave on a public forum? what i said is for a reason. i have manners and compassion, for my livestock & for my fellow plot holders. not for idiots who do not learn again and again from mistakes because they did not reserch the subject in the first place. it is now cool to keep chickens and to keep an allotment but when the going gets tough the idiotic people do not know where to go.
Lightyears, whilst we appreciate that everybody has an opinion and that a lot of the time it may differ from others, it is generally accepted that points are put across in a tolerant and respectful way without needing insult or personal direction. If you have some advice to give, please do so in a respectful way :)
