Which maincrop onion do you find stores the longest.

No idea - however many we grow they never seem to last 5 minutes   :)

We grow the overwintering Japanese onions (just put them in yesterday) and then sow another couple of rows of Sturon in early January. Use the japs first then the sturon and then attack the leeks.

Thanks Bill. We grow Radar as an overwintering and they last quite a while. Just don't want to waste money on something that is not going to store well. There are only 2 of us so we don't use them very quickly

I grow Sturon which are quoted as being excellent for long term storage. I certainly have no problems with them.

Not Kelsaes... they get huge but they don't keep.... handy for turning the courgette/tomato glut into pasta sauce withou having to peel too many onions but not one to last beyond christmas.... I'd second Sturon but you'd want something else to see you to Christmas cos it's a bit fiesty when its just come out of the ground in my experierience... Rjinnsburger or Aisla Craig are pretty good

Setton claims to be an improved version of Sturon and to store for longer.
