Take less clothes
Buy your toiletries when you get there - go to Boots and buy a toiletries carry on pack - decant what you need for the first night and take that as carry-on
Wear your heaviest clothes on the flight ;D
thanks, but already bought all toiletries, small sizes,no chance of going to buy more as start work 7am tmrw morning, dont finish till midnight, day off next day but will have needed it all by then.cant take less clothes as no washing machine freely available, think im doomed
Given the timescales, I think you might be doomed too. :( Ryanair & Easyjet are fine if you're only travelling with hand luggage, but as soon as you put a bag in the hold the fare skyrockets. I have stuffed underware and lightweight items of clothes in my hand luggage before... much to the amusement of airport security. ::)
I hope your employers are paying the excess.
I was given loads of pressies when I visited family/friends in Italy last year. My excess baggage cost more than the flight!
This is how they make their money. In fact I think there are bargains to be had from scheduled flights which outweigh the so-called "cheap" flights.
Wear 15 layers of clothing. Fill all the pockets with the heavy items.
Reduce your carbon footprint and only take whats absolutely necessary and if thats still over the weight then you ll just have to pay the excess . The choice is yours, cut down or pay up.
If your excess is due to work 'stuff' then charge it to the company.
Next time, if you know your going to have excess baggage, factor this in when selecting/booking a flight, you may have found a bigger airline cheaper overall, dont just look at the headline price; or take the car and go on the boat
We have been told that we are allowed 22kg on our Easyjet flight next Saturday. Methinks I will pack my case tomorrow for a test weigh in!! Will make sure to pack exactly same things on Friday evening!!! Now where is my bikini ;D ;D

This is probably a stupid question, but are you using the lightest suitcase you have? Or even use a travel bag on wheels, they are usually lighter than suitcases.
I would put at least a change of clothes in my hand luggage if I were you plus any more that you can fit. My son flew with Ryanair with his father and they took so long to check everyone in that most of the baggage wasn't loaded and the first 24 hours in Sweden were without clothes! They did get paid some money to buy clothes (then I'm guessing their bags were over weight for the trip back!).

i dont book the flights, like i said,im going to work, and given that im going on tour its not practical to drive over, unless the tour bus is going to tow my little car everywhere, besides the husband needing it whilst away,i assure you,i am only taking things i absolutely need!

yep,i sure am using the lightest,i wouldnt use anything other than a hard suitcase anyway,im a very seasoned traveller and have seen how the baggage handlers throw stuff around. i just havnt flown for a while since all these new regs kicked in,used to be so easy!
I once arrived in Rome without my luggage and soon learned just how little you actually can manage on. Take washing powder and simply wash everything. Hold it by one corner and spin it over the bath/shower. One on, one drying and one to wear.
Next trip I went for 10 days to Rome and Naples with only one small bag.
Leave all those heavy shoes behind. You only need one pair.
Wear Two of everything, put one spare in the hand luggage and leave the case at home.
How long you going for?
You should post yourself a box of clothes via royal mail it will cost you about £20?
up date ;D stuffed as many clothes as poss in my carry on,and didnt get charged a penny despite being 7 kilos over, hoorah! thanks to all the advice above, great advice but couldnt apply to me as im in a different city/country each day, and living in a different hotel every day,or the tour bus, rock n roll hey

Its a hard life but someone got to do it, i work with OB's and when the guys are doing a lot of travel they usually stick there luggage in with the equipment when it gets shipped as its cheaper to do it that way.
Enjoy the road :)

One of the sound crews I see at festivals over the summer have it down pat as far as I can tell... all the rack caases they have in their kit have drawer kits that they've modified to be removeable in... you can fit quite a lot in a 4U rack drawer... also when their desk is set up it sits on three identical sized rack cases, one of which is the power distro for their kit.... or the bit everyone can see on the back is.... most of the front is a fridge.....
