My hanging baskets were more like dried arrangements this year, not because of neglect (well, OK a little bit! ::)) but mainly because of the wind which whipped the plants about and really stressed them.
I want to start planning for next year now that things are winding down a bit with the cooler weather.
Can anyone suggest basket plants that will stand up to what the weather god in West Yorkshire dishes out, and still put on a reasonable show?
Thanks!!

I used only bizzy lizzies in mine this year - made a nice ball effect, I have 3 hanging off of each clothes post at either end of the garden & they have been well & truly buffeted by the wind this year but are still looking good. I also put lots of water crystals & slow release plant food in them so that it wasn't such a problem if i did neglect them.
I've been growig tumbling tomatoes in hanging baskets this year. Fantastic crop. Being near the sea it can be a bit breezy round here - but not sure how they would fair where you are?
Thanks for the suggestions - excellent food for thought.
The sedums look like an interesting option - OH in favour of busy lizzies. Neighbour in favour of tomatoes (looking for a free lunch! ;D)
Thanks!!
I restrain my baskets with string. I knock a cable clip into the wall and thread some string through it and then through the basket and tie it, not too tight. It's not visible as it's at the back and gets covered by the plants anyway.
