Title: Early Onward Peas
Post by: Psi (Pronounced 'Si'!) on September 16, 2009, 09:18:48
All

I just picked up some 'early onwards' peas from the trading hut and I am hoping to over winter them.  Does anyone have expereince growing them?  I guess I am wondering whether I out to support them etc.  would like to hear any advice from you experts.

I grow Early Onward, but I don't bother with over wintering (way too much planning required ;D)  I sow direct early March.  They grow to about 3' so do need support.

Enjoy

Grew early onward this year , did not overwinter but planted end march, gave them a few twigs.  Good crop.  Should have planted for succession got too many all at once.

I just think its so much tassle over wintering peas, broadies or the likes. They just get in the way of digging as I need to rotovate this year.   :-\     ;D ;D ;D

I sowed mine in guttering in Feb and grew them on till they were a couple of inches tall and put them out in march.

Ditto.  An excellent yield for an early crop.
