Title: Red peppers
Post by: northener on September 16, 2009, 08:27:36
Loads of green ones. Do folk leave them on or take them off and put on a windowsill? I'm trying the latter fed up of slugs and snails getting them.

Have you tried the windowsill Saddad? I'm never keen when they are green not sweet enough.

Last week I picked about 12 Sweet Mini Red peppers, all from plants grown outside.  I've mentioned them before and almost caused a mass stampede to Wilkinsons for the seeds but they really are the best I've ever grown.
Quite small, but very tasty and loads of red peppers on every plant.

I have me seed for the mini peppers for next year. Ceres sent me some californian wonder and they are ok but still green.

We use a lot of green in stir fry so don't try to ripen them up on the widowsill

Yeah i saw the post squash and was fortunate to get the last packet, something to look forward to next year. I've grown corno del torro (excuse spelling) Really long flavour ok only negative is the flesh is a bit thin.

Outside I've had a few mini red bell (from Nicky's Nursery, not sure if the same as squash64) and some are at the streaky dark stage but otherwise just a couple from the GH.

PS message for TeeGee: the Luteus (potted on a bit late) has been kept in the GH this year and is doing ok although peppers are still green.  Thanks.

Mine are too shirl!  None of my peppers or chillis are ripe yet.  Got loads of fruit but all still green.
