Don't remember ever hearing any scandal about her. She seemed to be enjoying the stroll along the beach this week while being interviewed.

My wife met her a few years back when they were both singing together. (I hasten to add, OH was merely a humble member of the choir, Dame Vera was not!)

But she was lovely; no "side" (unlike a few other famous singers I've encountered!); queued up for the Ladies with the rest of the gels; one of us....

We played "Who's taking you home tonight?" at my mother's funeral. (My father's song, actually, but it felt right.)
