Title: Meeting allotment 4 all people
Post by: Borlotti on September 12, 2009, 18:43:30
Is it easy talking, typing on here, but when you meet the person in person, what did you think? I think we all have an idea of the person from their posts, but were they what you were expecting.  Answers please.  The only person I met was exactly as I expected.

I`ve met some from here-and others from other sites.

We are the same in person-Just folk who share this gardening game.

I have had the pleasure of meeting 6 A4A members, all turned out to be what I expected. We have had some good laughs. I have met up again with a couple of those members on a few occasions.
This year has been worrying for me due to ill health of one of my daughters. I have found it comforting now and again to talk "outside" the family, two of my A4A friends (you know who you are) have been such great listeners.

What I meant was that I always imagined Saddad as very, very old, walking on a walking frame (sorry), and thought that (must be getting old) forgotten his name, the very handsome pilot, looked good and some other names that I thought were men, turned out to be ladies.  Thought ACE was a clown, only due to his picture, whatever.  ;D ;D ;D

I have met at least 8 from here and they have all been nice people.

All people are lovely on here, and the people on my allotment are the kindest, most generous people I have ever met and they don't get bored with talking about vegetables, but we do have lovely conversations about other things and yesterday I came back with a book that was recommended to me, and also loads and loads of toms.

The people I've met have all been exactly how I pictured them.....apart from Saddad.  I was expecting a miserable old bloke with no sense of humour.
Just goes to show that you can't judge someone by their name.

All the a4a folks I've met have been lovely. Quite a few of them no longer posting but I suppose that's the nature of the beast. It's nice to meet up with folk you feel you know quite well even though you've actually never met before to discover that they're even better than they seemed online.

QuoteThought ACE was a clown,

You telling me he isn't?

Quoteapart from Saddad.  I was expecting a miserable old bloke with no sense of humour.

But he is in the top ten A4a pisstakers.

I met one member of this club in a manure heap and he was a bit perturbed because I recognised him from the mental profile I had built up from his posts.

I will be meeting up with Tonybloke at the end of the month, I don't care if he has two heads, just as long as he gets the beers in.   :P     ;D ;D ;D

And when I met Kev he was wearing an Arsenal shirt (but who can blame him after Spurs' result yesterday?)  :o  ;D

Yep, Cornykev, you did thank me.  Being nosey, what does Georgie look like.  We should do a north London drink/meal.  Don't worry you don't have to pay, all pay for ourselves, or bring children, partners, pizza hut, whatever.  Think we did have another Enfield person on here.  Where are you???

Got a lecture from my daughter about meeting people off the internet.  ??? ???  So I suppose it is a good idea not to give out too many details, willy nilly.  That is probably why we do not use our real names, but admit it does get confusing.  I expect Digeroo to look like a bird, and I will jump about like a bean.

well i've swapped plants with someone on here, and very nice it was too, but I just worry that i'm not a bit like I come across online. Obviously i'm an idiot, but in a completely different way than I appear on A4A

I wonder sometimes that if I though someone else on our site was a regular here, i'd more or less stop posting

I know what you mean, told someone on our site about this site, and said my name was Borlotti and was quite embarrassed to think she/he read my thoughts, although don't think I said anything too bad.  Well if I see a clever person (who did well in the quiz) and looks like a stick of rhubard I will know it is you.

I have met about thirty A4A members, six of whom have just posted on this thread, Asbean, Eristic, Georgie, grawrc, Lorna and Ollie.  All of them are lovely people.

The only surprise I had was when I met my first member.  It was Lorna.   In the photograph on her Atavar at the time, she looked just like my mother in law.  I was therefore expecting her to be like her in her ways but Lorna was much more self assured, confident and with it.  Very different to my M-I-L who was shy and retiring.

Definitely a compliment Lorna.  My mother in law was a lovely person too, but not very sure of herself; a bit timid.

You have a better memory than me Lorna.  I can't remember the cones!  Were they cakes or ice cream?

;D ;D ;D  Didn't we have scones with Kathi's home made mirabelle jam?

I have problems with my keyboard since I spilt orange juice all over it.  With me it is the letter K and because I have to push hard on it, it sometimes types 2 or 3 times.
