Title: chickweed problem
Post by: tomatoada on September 12, 2009, 18:16:12
The bed where I grew peas and broad beans is now covered in chickweed.  I removed the haulms about 2 weeks ago, and raked the ground over ready for rotavating in Oct. or Nov..  The whole area is now covered with this weed.  Do I dig it out or rotavate it into the soil?  Any advice please.

If you dig it in make sure it's all buried or like speedwell it will continue growing...  :)

I would boil it up and make a brew out of it.

There was an old boy near me as a kid would drink it every day and he lived a long time without a need for the doctors.

Not sure what it tastes like as I have never tried it.

Find someone with chickens - the chooks just love it!

Thanks folks.  I am pondering.  Might ask the chicken lady 5 plots along if she wants to take her hens out for a walk.
