This might be my biggest pumpkin this year. I have others, but they are in the middle of dense foliage and I can't get near them for a photo.
This photo was taken today

Now you can't make the Open Day I don't need to feel embarrassed about my (relatively) small pumpkins... ;D
Looks great Squash. Have you measured it?
Vicar of Dibley sketch comes to mind.

Measured it today - from the stalk at the top to the flower end it is 37inches. Across the widest part, from soil to soil it is 49inches. I've never thought of measuring before so I don't know how it compares to other years.
In the immortal words of Sid the Sexist....
"Bloody Hell love, well done!"

Same pumpkin taken today, next to a wheelbarrow to give an idea of size.

Looks big now Squash! I haven't measured mine for a while. First time with Atlantic Giants for us this year and we are pleased that ours are looking big.
What a Cracker.............. ;D
Was it your pumpkin that appeared on the front page of the Sun newspaper, think it came from somewhere up north.

No, definitely not mine - mine is tiny compared to some of the monsters that people grow.

Yeah but it still qualifies as impractiably huge :o.... what will you lift it with... an engine crane?.... Do you have a service where you can rent husky young men by the hour?.... I'm seriously jealous, though consoling myself with the thought that there's a couple of packs of AG in my seed box for next year :D
wow thats amazing :)
You must have really good seed :)

We are running low on husky young men on the site :( so I suppose I'll have to make do with whover I can 'persuade' to help me roll it into the wheelbarrow.
It doesn't seem as big as last year's though.
Great picture! Great pumkin! Great fun! ;D ;D ;D
I am growing a variety named Goliath. Its no where near as big as that one Betty. What variety is it and can I have aseed for next year :-*

It is either Atlantic Giant or Sumo, most probably AG. You can certainly have seed Shirl, but I always buy new seed every year. I think that unless you are very lucky and there is no cross-pollination going on, pumpkins and squash do not come true from seed.
But if you want some, you can have it.
