Hi everyone - does anyone know why my peppers are turning purple and not red like they should - before you ask, no they are not a purple variety - I had this last year so was very careful this year and brought only red varieties???
Could it be the weather - and the temp fluctuations that we have been having?
They are grown in a small poly tunnel.
Regards

They will go red, don`t sweat it !!
Purple is an intermediate colour on the way to red. Some of mine are almost black but are showing hints of red. Perfectly normal!

Thats reassuring as a similar thing has happened to some of my chilli peppers...
Perfectly normal!
The following picture shows you it in three stages;

As said-perfectly normal
lovely picture - they are much more purple than that but as another said theirs went nearly black.
I have to say they look nothing like the picture - if they looked like that I wouldn't be worried at all.
Still - I'll sit it out longer ::)
Bolivian Rainbow, Numex Twilight, Trifetti, Orozco etc all have a distinctly purple phase on the way to red.
