I have a lovely variety of ornamental squash that have grown from last years compost - are they really ornamental or can i eat them???
Anyone know if they are actually different to normal squashes or carry poison in them????
Thanks
Suzie Q
we were given some last year(the fruits that is) ..very very bitter, put Ray offf his tea, it went through all the roast veggies and meat..absolutely awful ..just our opinion ;D
Not poisonous - just bitter!
thanks for advice - will give them a miss then - shame really as they are doing better than my planted squashes.
It does always seem to be the volunteer plants that do the best - only toms on the plot that didn't get blight are the ones that grew from the compost!!!!!
I ate some of mine and was sick. Ate them again to make sure, and was sick again. So................

Love this story!!! You didn't try 3rd time lucky?!?!
I am a bit reckless , but reckoned twice was enough in this case.
I thought that the adage was
If at first you don't succeed, try and try and try again!
As a Doctor, I am glad you did not heed it.
