I only have a small veg patch. One short row of peas, they were doing really well, nice full pods. No peas have got as far as the kitchen as I love them raw. Over the past week the plants have gone silvery/grey colour. What is it please? Will it affect my runner beans which are in the next row?
Powdery Mildew... peas are prone to it later in the season, runners less so. Dry at the roots and damp air/humidity... :-\
Thank you Saddad. Should I pull the plants up now and burn or can I leave to see if any more pods develop? Oh, and will it affect any crops next year? As it is a very small patch I do plant in same area.
Don't worry about it. I had it all over some of mine last year, and they cropped anyway. It happens in humid conditions, and it was very noticeable that it only affected plants that were near to my soft fruit. Plant them where the air can circulate and that may help. People say you can treat it by spraying with milk but I've never tried.
