As the previous thread is now several pages long I thought I'd refresh it..
Hello again...
Less than a month away...
Sunday September the 6th 11-5pm £3 to the NGS
Produce sales, some plants, cakes, samosas, refreshments.
Scuba gear to hire... (Just kidding!)
DE23 6JH if you want to find it on Google earth etc
See Saddad's plots, DebP's shed and many more... the Exhibition Dahlia's will be in full flower.
I would love to come. I think it is worth a visit just to see DebP's shed!!
I have family in Notts so travelling to Derby is okay.
Problem is that I am on a hen weekend...
There's always next year... :)
You could have a look at our developing website...
www.littleoverlaneallotments.org.uk
Carol and I will be there on the 6th September, we went to Betty's Open Day on Saturday and had a good time.
Hope the weather holds out for you.
Steve
Lovely website saddad.
Thank you... it's getting there... :)
Brilliant website saddad. It has inspired me to delve into the history of our site.
I have a "lesson" tomorrow with our "tame Techie" so I can work on it.. :)
You're a lucky lad to have a 'tame techie' :) I'll just have to copy you then ;D
His partner has a plot... his heart's not really into gardening but I've been softening him up with rasps, cherry toms and figs... :)
Well I've had the lesson... but I think I'm going to need a lot more food parcels.. :-[
Did I mention our Open Day on the 6th of September... ???
No Saddad I don't think you did ;D

No Saddad I don't think you did ;D
well, not for five minutes ;D
It must have been someone else then... :-X
Only a couple of weeks now... :)
Then I'll shut up about it for a while... ;D
Is there an open day coming up in Derby soon? ;D ;D ;D.
Possibly... ;D
Two weeks tomorrow... :)
bump.... :)
Wonder how the Glasgow day went? :)
Two weeks today...
have a look at what your missing...
www.littleoverlaneallotments.org.uk
Site under construction so not all the pages work yet...
Found this old bloke studying the poster this morning.....
If he's that short-sighted will he be able to find it? ;D
He will Saddad cos he's comin with us ;D
Just don't bring those Prarie Dogs... :)
I do hope to be able to come. What about parking please.
I coming from Ashbourne.

Just don't bring those Prarie Dogs... :)
We are them there praire dogs ;D
Bump.
No actual parking on the site but lots of space on the road outside.
Thanks for reply.
Sorry for not replying but I've been in York since Sunday... Foremark Avenue.. opposite the main gates is good for parking.. just don't try to get into the wrong site... the big wooden fence in Foremark is "Normanton" allotments... ( the ones visible from the ring road)
All info. duly noted. Thanks . I presume there will be a notice on the allotment gates.
The little notices are out but the big signs and banners will be out on the day... ;D
Now if I could hook up some of those huge weather balloons to my lawn chair and catch a hurricane headed your way I'd just drift on over for your big day, Saddad!
You must have weeded every last weed out by now. I hope you have a good turn out.
I am checking the following.
Allotments are called Littleover Lane Allotments
Park in Foremark Ave
Where does Normanton come in.
Sorry but you know we women can find places.
Will the 90 yr old lady be there? Can I know what plot no. she has? I would love to meet her.Sorry to ask you all this as I know you must be busy.
Hi... Normanton is the District... from Ashbourne if you come into town down the Ashbourne rd to The Markeaton Island then right tot he next island (Kingsway/Sainsbury's) follow the A5111 Up and over the ridge at Littleover (Burton Rd) When you go down the hill the first roundabout (where the Yellow signs will be) is Normanton turn right into Stenson rd and right again (at the top of the rise) into L'over Lane. I'm fairly certain Betty (ours) will be about that's plot 53... :)
DE23 6JH into an online mapping service helps... :)
Thanks thats great. I hope we have good weather for all of us.
Ten days to go... :-X
bump
A little bird told me that you are having an Open Day, hope everyone has a good day in 10 days time, I believe. ;D ;D ;D
Barlotti how did you know???
Guess I must be psychic.
Did I mention our Open Day... a week on Sunday? ::)
so soon :P ;D
Getting closer every day... :)
Bit windy here today, think you had better 'batton down the hatches' or whatever the saying is. They say the sun shines on the righteous so hopefully you will have a good sunny day. Could you just remind us all when it is again, are you getting excited, like a 5 year old with a birthday. ;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm like that all the time... ;D
I'm just back from Clacton and as the Red Arrows flew past at the air show I noticed they were pulling a banner behind them, it read, DON'T FORGET SADDADS OPEN DAY ON SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER. Well my bottom lip hit the sand. 8) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
::) ;D
Seven days.
Crikey, you kept this quiet ;D/ shades x
Well you know I don't like to shout... ;D
If you want to taste-test some toms... this is some idea of the range that will be available on the day...
Is Saddad having an open day, I forgot, glad he reminded me. ;D ;D ;D Like Cornkev's sense of humour about the banner from Red Arrows, or maybe, just maybe it was true.
Been too busy to bump this today...
next Sunday 11-5pm... fingers crossed for a fine day. ;)
Bump... This Sunday... another five days to go... bet you can't wait... ::)
(For me to shut up about it!!) ;D
One of our plotholders has just brought me half a dozen White Agapanthus plants to sell ;D
Unfortunately I can't make it, wish I could I would have snapped up the Aganpanthos!!
On the unlikely event I can't sell them.. at the weekend/or Eco fest two weeks later do you want to put first refusal on them... ?
:-X
Would love some if you have any spare.
You are coming down on the day aren't you? :)
Do you want me to put a couple aside?
Selling plants? When would that be Saddad?
Possibly this Sunday... or two weeks later at Ecofest... :)
Yes please. Plan to be there.
I even dreamed about your blessed open day last night.......it rained...... ;D
I live too far away to be able to come to your open day on 6 September otherwise I'd be there as I love going to allotment open days and seeing how other sites are run
Hope you have a good day
QuoteI even dreamed about your blessed open day last night.......it rained
That does it... if it does I'll be round your house... >:(
You can get a bit of a "virtual tour" at www.littleoverlaneallotments.org.uk
We were runners-up in the "Kitchen Garden" allotment competition this year.. ;D
ooo good on yer Saddad and team - good bit of PR there "come and see our prize winning allotments".......
Congratulations on being runners-up in the Kitchen Garden magazine allotment competition - is this for 2009? and what category - Best allotment site or best community allotment project. Our site - Castle Hill Ipswich - won the KG best community project competition in 2006.
Your web site is fantastic.
Now you are teasing me. Most unlikely that you won't sell them but the answer is yes.
Best Site category...
I'll bear you in mind Lorna... but don't hold your breath.. :-X
Right I've ordered the famous veggy samosas this morning, so there will be eats as well. Must sort the shed out this afternoon so it looks respectable for Sunday...... ;)
Would love to come, could you move a little closer?
I'm sure we could get all 12 acres into the back of Andy's van... might take a couple of thousand trips though.... ::)
If you are coming you'd better check your Scuba gear is in working order... >:(
Metcheck has a good 2cm of rain for late Sunday... after we have closed... but they have been known to be very wrong!! ::)
Well they've downgraded the rain for Sunday... but by tomorrow they will be forecasting it again... ::)
Every time I look at A4A I seem to get the same message....
Have you got an Open Day or something on Sunday, Saddad???? Why didn't you let us all know?
(Pity you're too far away. Your site looks fabulous and I'd like to bring our entire Committee just to see what they're aiming for!)
Best of luck. You will post some pictures, won't you. ('Cos I expect you hadn't thought of that!)
Piccies of the day will rely on my OH... I'm usually too busy...
:-[
Good luck on Sunday Saddad, our late summer show on Saturday and I'm having hot flushes already ::)
Linda
PS. If Reigate Priory Cricket team get through the next round in the Cockspur Cup Twenty/20 we'll all be up at Derby Cricket Club and on Sky TV too! ;D
PPS. Sorry to go off thread :-[
If you want to stay over...
!!! Not the whole team.... ::)
Cheers Saddad. one more game at Reigate against Henley-on-Thames and you might be on!
Linda
Well Metcheck says the rain has moved to late Sunday... and we have a couple of nice prep days ahead.. now if someone can perform magic and replace all the over-winter brassica plants that have been done to death by caterpillars..
:o
Funny you should say that.........I had to sow twice as my brassica seedlings were munched at home, planted out at the lottie under nets only yesterday! I'll be doing a lot of tidying up as well in the the next couple of days.... ::)
See you down there then... :)
Did I mention?????? ::)
If anyone is in two minds it really-really is worth it,come rain or shine.
Good luck for tomorrow Saddad. Looks like its going to be a nice day. Sorry we can't make it this time
Hope all goes well for you tomorrow and that the rain stays away.
Thanks both... been out since 9:00am sorting things out... just come in to get a brew... then back out again.. :)
In to make another brew.. :)
Keep going saddad, um - getting ready foooor , Your Open Day --Tomorrow !!! :o
Have a super time , a lorra laughs and hope you get loads of visitors ;D
' It's alright -- here comes the sun ' etc , ;)
Hope you like fruit cake as I have made one for mine hosts ;D ;D ;D. No dairy in it either ;). Would have gone nicely with your cuppa.
Do we know who is going to be there tomorrow?
Saddad I hope that your day tomorrow is as brilliant as mine at my show has been today!
All the very very best for tomorrow saddad (it is tomorrow, isn't it, or have I muddled up the dates?) ;D
I'm thinking that the weather will come good for you, so here's to a good turn-out and a lovely day for everyone. With all the work you've all put in to make it a success, I hope it's a resounding one.
Cheers, Lishka
QuoteDo we know who is going to be there tomorrow?
Me... ;D
Oh and DebP obviously ... :)
about three definites but we lost Shirlton and Squash... :'(
Is it usually busy. Would we best to get there early?
Hope you have a good day.
Too busy this time to pop over.....always next year :)
No even when we get over 200 guests they soon get dispersed in a 12 acre site.. Sometimes it's busy for the first hour. I'd be there at Opening if you are coming to buy something "rare" like the white Agapanthus as there are only half a dozen..
See you next time Fork.. :)
Bugger working today but i hope you all have a good day.
We are all waiting to hear how it goes. Wish I lived nearer and would be round there enjoying. Let's hope he has good weather, quite pleasant her in sunny Enfield.
As Borlotti says maybe a bridge too far, good luck Saddad and Deb, hope the weather is as good as it is here in Sunny Enfield. 8) ;D ;D ;D
It didn't rain until I was having a beer on the patio at 7:30pm... ;D
We've had a lovely day. Thank-you so much for your kindness. What lovely people. We had a guided tour by Alison, stopped chatting to several people who gave us produce. We saw Deb's shed, wonderful. I want one. Bought some bits & bobs. The only disappointment was that we didn't meet any other boarders. Maybe next time.
Hope you enjoyed it Saddad.
Thanks again.
I was hidden by those high hedges, Grannyjanny - maybe next time we need tattoos on our faces! I had a lovely walk around, the plotters were very welcoming. Well done to all concerned, see you next year.
I'll post some piccies when I sober up... may take some time... Markfield Rover was here as well.. :)
Forgot to mention we also met Deb P who is lovely. She very kindly gave us a lesson in pruning our oblique cordon fruit trees. We can now do it with confidence. Many thanks Deb.
The cake was good too...
:)
I've looked at the pics OH's uploaded to photobucket but there's no mug-shots... :-[
Good to hear the sun shone and the beer was wet Saddad ;D
Just done most of the Cashing up
We took £660 but have to deduct for the Samosas and other edibles... so looks like £315 for the NGS and £250 for us... :)
Well Done Saddad ;D
It really was a 'Grand day out'.Thank you Saddad and all those who were so friendly(which was everyone).
Glad you all had a great day, well done to Saddad and all his little helpers. ;D ;D ;D
Well done Saddad & all concerned. It really was a grand day out. Next time we must wear A4A badges.
Well done too Saddad, wish we could have an open day like yours. :'(

We've really got so sort this identity thing out, the T-shirt idea didn't really go down a bundle, but a badge is more realistic - I'd be really proud to wear one. Someone
please have a go at designing one.
Linda

I did make some id tags for us for the June Open Day, with a pic of our plot and our A4A names underneath, but they dissolved in the rain...... ::)
When are you collecting... :)
I'll pm you! ;)
