Title: does anyone make scones in the mixer
Post by: manicscousers on August 16, 2009, 10:38:54
I was always taught they needed a light touch..can't make them by hand now and the things they sell in the supermarket(no bakeries nearby) are useless..just wondered about the mixer  ???

Hi,

Yes you can use a mixer.
We have done it this way for years and have had no problem with it.
Measure out as normal then put it in the mixer and blast until mixed.
Turn out the dough and cut to size.
Bake and cool then eat to your hearts content. Or indigestion sets in. ;D ;D ;D

Never made scones, but shortbread from mixer very good. Just zap and then put into tray and hit it.  Very good for taking out frustrations.  Then stab it with fork and cook.

So cruel stabbing the shortbread, but I do agree that the shortbread is a hit.
