Title: Disappointing Marfona potatoes
Post by: Ninnyscrops. on August 10, 2009, 19:44:30
I won't be growing these again.

75% of those cropped so far had slug damage, not just on the surface either, they really had munched their way into the middle  >:(

Anyone else grown these this year?

Marfona is one of my absolute favourite varieties.  Unfortunately, do not have room to grow them, but I understand that they are also a favourite variety of slugs.

Have to admit a lovely flavour with the bits I could salvage, valmarg.

Are you on heavy clay too? I could never get a worthwhile crop from them for that same reason...  :-\

Yup Saddad, although it's getting better gradually with the spent hops and manure added over the last few years Now got the dilema of what to add this winter with all that "pyramid" stuff!
