Title: Runner beans

Hope someone can help, my runner bean plants are having the flowers eaten, the leaves are starting to go brown and crispy, we've only had a small crop this year,so far normally picking into sep/oct without any agro

I have had very poor set this year on my runner beans. I cut down on the number of plants because I had far too many last year but this has tempted fate I guess.
Plenty of flowers but no beans and I have seen a bee visiting often so I am at a bit of a loss on this one myself as well.

I heard once that bumble bees hack into the flower from the back.

They can do. Poor pollination may well be down to bad weather. I don't think anyone on my site has got any yet.
