Title: HELP ANTs
Post by: Toker5000 on August 04, 2009, 09:15:38
Just got my allotment yesterday, the weesds are everywere but i also have 2 large ant hills.  the only porblem is that the hills are made of soil and glass (old greenhouse planes dumped over years) so i can not rip them down.  any one got any ideas now to move then on.

thanks

They can be a minor nisance farming aphids, but that's counterbalanced by the number of small nasties they must kill in the course of a season. The only thing to watch out for is if they move into a plant pot, they can cause problems there because there may not be room for both them and the plant's roots. If you want to get rid of the mounds, just dig them as normal and ignore the ants. They'll set up a new nest somewhere nearby.

If they're piles of soil and broken glass you don't want them anyway! I had a massive pile like that when I took on my plot, but it went years ago.

the ants can go with the glass then  :)

do you know how harmful it is to bury animals, just i was talking to the gent who had it before me (he had a massive plot but NT council divided it up into smaller ones) and i got the pet grave yard on the end
