Hi Folks, pretty soon my first season of Catawissa will be finished. It looks liek I'll have a dozen or so assorted bulbils spare and 3 or 4 decent bulbs. I would expect the bulbs and the biggest two bulbils to do the tree-onion thing next year and the smaller bulbils to do it the year after next. This year I've had three layers of bulbils on the trees.
I'm looking to swap a for some elephant garlic (bulbs or bulbils) and/or other interesting or wierd alliums.... anyone got any potato onions?

This is an image of the one that did the tree thing as its second deck of bulbils came out, the ends that formed the third deck can be clearly seen

We have elephant garlic but it is already planted we will have more by the end of the season if you want it for the tree onions
I'd love to give these onions a try too but Chris's post was made in 2009.
Ah I get it now, you googled for a swap and it found this post.
Still interested in the onions though ...
....interesting ;D
^^ a drive-by posting perhaps?
But welcome OP, forgive our (my) cynicism.
Our!!
There will be more Catawissa available at the end of this year.... I got some more elephant garlic in the end anyway..... that photo is from my old plot.... though the catawissa is settling in nicely on the new one....
Always interested in odd onions, I suppose the catawissa is my primary swap as it's very rare in the UK ...
