Title: Japanese mock orange
Post by: nilly71 on July 27, 2009, 21:20:33
Can i take cuttings from a japanese mock orange?
Mine is only about 18" high but has new lighter tips of about 4",  can i cut these off as cuttings?

Also, can they be used to make a low hedge around the plot?

Neil,
I am a semi to hardwood cuttings person. I would wait a bit they tend to take better when you add a bit of the hard stuff.
The young stems in my mind will become to weak and not root to well.
On the other hand you could try and prove me wrong by succeeding with this method. ;)

we tend to layer them by sticking a brick on the branch when it's long enough to reach the ground  :)
