Has DIXONS closed all there shops down?
they are in real trouble see here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3665661.stm
Yes, all their shops have closed. Not sure if they are in trouble as they are part of the Curry's group and are still trading online.
Bought something last week from them £50 cheaper than in a Curry's store, so good for the consumer.
They're not using the Dixons name in the UK at the moment (except in airports). The group is actually called DSG, which used to stand for Dixons Stores Group, so Dixons is by no means dead. The Dixons retail business has been split between Currys and PC World.
Thanks for that peeps. I want to buy a cooker from them online,it is £100 cheaper than elsewhere. Unless anyone can suggest any other outlet.
It is a Zanussi cooker. Is it safe to buy online from them?
Rosebud,
It is safe to buy online, but I would only use those sites which offer a secure payment method. If you are in any doubt about this then you canstop before the transaction is completed.
I use a secure online banking method which requires passwords for the completion of any transactions. This then keeps you secure and not the herberts who want to fleece you of all that can be got out of accounts.
It is what you want it to be, secure if you take care. ;)
Rosebud - if you are looking for a good online alternative check http://www.empiredirectappliances.co.uk (http://www.empiredirectappliances.co.uk)
They are now owned by Richer Sounds and have some excellent deals..
Rosebud as well as what Landimad says I'd also use a credit card, not debit, as you get better protection from the credit card companies if the shop you are buying from goes belly up
Rosebud, I agree with 1066 that you will get protection by using a credit card rather than a debit card.
Have you also looked for your product in Amazon and 365 electrical? I have often found that they can be the cheapest.
Have you got someone that can fit the cooker for you so that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to have it done by whoever you are buying from?
Pauline, we found Dixon online to be an excellent price , for the cooker we want they also fit it for £56 80, currys charge £89 80 :o :o, So as soon as we get our moving date we shall order it , also free delivery. ;D ;D
Wow, even £56.80 is a lot for fitting the cooker, unless they have to put in new sockets or fuse points.
I'm pleased my OH has been able to instal all the cookers/ovens that we have had over 35 years of marriage. :D
