Title: Diluting home-made feeds
Post by: caroline7758 on July 26, 2009, 03:35:30
I've got comfrey and weeds soaking in water, but advice seems to vary a lot as to how long they should be left before using and how much they need diluting. Does anyone know of any "scientific" info on this, or if not , what would you recommend? I've also got loads of borage- do I do the same with this as with comfrey? Should I just use the leaves or can the flowers and roots go in as well?

with comfrey juice, I dilute 'til it is a pale straw colour. and yes, borage can be used the same as comfrey as far as I'm aware. ;)

try this for comfrey ...

Some recipes here ...

Borage leaves reputedly have some phosphates (as opposed to comfrey which is rich in potassium) but I cannot confirm this.

Thanks, all. BAK, those two articles are really useful- have added to my favourites. Only thing I've done wrong is harvesting in the first year, but my comfrey is still growing strong and don't think I'll have any problem getting new stuff if it dies!
