Don't be put off by packet mix you CAN make without. Australian I worked with used to make gorgeous yogurt with one of these...tasted like Mueller corner youghurt!

The reason I bought easiyo was so I didn't have to faff about with live starters as it's all in the sachets, with no hidden nasties.I'm going to have a go making some from scratch though using the maker as recommended on this forum :)
I have used the EasiYo with and without the packets. I wasnt so good at the DIY approach but I guess it needs a bit of practise.
The packets make good yougurt and if you strain it you can get a really thick creamy yogurt that is comparible with anything in the shops.
