Title: jam jar lids
Post by: reddyreddy on July 23, 2009, 16:44:39
does anyone know of somewhere that you can buy jam jar lids? I have loads of jam jars but lids are discoloured and old. Failing that they will become tea light holders!!

Why not buy some jars and take the lids off them ? ;D

Seriously (now), see here :-

I have just bought some jars from Ascott Smallholding.  They also do lids on their own.  Good prices (i think anyway, unless someone proves me wrong!) much cheaper than Lakeland anyway (but then I imagine most places are!)

postage is quite expensive, though arrived very quickly by courier and well packaged.

I have struggled with this too and am resorting to keeping jars (not true jam jars) with plastic lids through out the year.

Coffee, Peanut butter, Bisto granules. They work just as well and I cover with cling film to make a secure fit if I am keeping them for a while, removing it when I start to use the jam. In fact the cling film will work even with a tainted metal lid, just to make a barrier.

I stretch the cling film over the top and then trim round with a pair of scissors once the lid is in place. Bit fiddly but needs must in a crisis.

Ask for jars with lids on freecycle!
