Title: Plant ID number 3
Post by: JimmyJames on July 20, 2009, 12:27:35
No idea about this one.

It has quite a bit of dead stuff in it, and im hoping I can attack it in much the same way as a hedge, and give it a bit of shape!!

Not sure why the pic didnt work,  sorry  :(

I agree RT that it isnt a very nice looking plant.  No idea if it flowers or not.  I think I will give it a shape up and hope for the best.

I inherited some lovely plants with my new house, and im really enjoying taming the wild jungle that grew up in the months that the place was empty.

I just hope my allotment doesnt get jealous ;)

Looks like a Spirea japonica,  usually has clusters of pink or white flowers.

Nice compact plant when young, but can get a bit stragelly with age (bit like me).
Can be pruned hard into woody stems, but I'd dig it out and buy a new one.

You could try cutting it right down to the ground and see if it re-shoots before buying another one.  I have done that before now and had a much tidier Spirea that way.

Good luck
