hiya is it possible to nip out the growing tip on pumpkins when they have filled there space.and start taking over??

Yes, it will put all the energy into growing the pumpkins.
But then again it may start growing a new one from a side shoot.

I was thinking about this but I where do you draw the balance between plant size and pumpkin size? Obviously the leaves are needed to produce the sugars so don't want to reduce the size too much, but also I don't want the plant putting too much energy into getting bigger and bigger!

I nipped out my New England pumpkin today, I have around six or seven fruits(perhaps one or two more, somewhere under all the foliage).

I can use two or three for pies etc.. and give friends the others for their kids at halloween. I know this variety aren't very big but neither are the kids. :)
