I have a surplus of 'Golden Acre' heads, I've frozen some as I usually do but I don't know how long they will stand before going to seed. Is there any other storage method people use? I know I can keep a couple in the fridge for a week or two. And yes, note made to self, sow successionally next year!
See my question on pickling.
juat had a look in my Edward Smith, he does loads of storing, he says wrap in newspaper and store somewhere cool and frost free, not sure about your type, though..I'm doing this in the garage with a greyhound at the moment as an experiment, had too many come at once and someone elses have started splitting with all this rain :)
Thanks Tim, I followed the sauerkraut link - maybe not! I grow red for traditional pickling, and really would like to retain the fresh nutty crunch if I could. I'll try the wrapping in a cool place method as well, thanks manics, if any of my experiments succeed I'll post later.
Didn't really expect you to go that way!!
How about like with Holland White - pull the whole thing & hang it in a cool shed? Though I doubt it.
dutch white cabbage can be cut and stored in a cool out building it goes a bit snotty but can be pealed back ok
