Was tying the squash up yesterday and smelled such a pungent aroma. I had my head by a squash flower. You just don't get that when you grow them along the ground.I have noticed that they all seem to be fruiting at almost every leaf joint whereas on the ground I had to wait ages for them to fruit
We never stop learning with plants do we?
Thanks for posting this Shirl. It never occurred to me that they would be so scented
When this rain stops I'm going to have to go up to my plot and then crawl on my hands and knees to be able to smell them! And all just to satisfy my curiosity!! Gawd knows what comments that will start off........

I'm trying a few up canes but they don't seem to want to climb. Maybe I just need to be a bit tougher with them!
You have to tie them to the cane till they get to the top and then just let em go over the top
I shall sniff mine tomorrow as I'm growing them up my Shirl frame, but I do like the idea of getting down and dirty. :P :o ;D ;D ;D

Must say I that I had never realized they had such a strong smell. Some sweeter than others.
