I'd like to sow some of these, if it isn't too late. Anyone recommend any white and yellow varieties? I have seen Moonbeam and Sunbeam but no info on them?
The recommended sowing time for 'Moonbeam' is April to the end of May. (My seeds came from Mole's).
I sowed mine in early May, the seeds were quick to germinate, but the plants have been slow to get going compared to the other summer squash I've planted. Mine are currently outside, but if you've got some greenhouse space they might still be worth a shot; 'Moonbeam' is compact and bushy, so won't take up much room.
I have no-idea, but had a spare gap so sowed some.
I'm sure it was at the begining of July(only seemed like a week ago :)) and they are already 2" high with 3-4 leaves.
You have nothing to loose and the way the weather is in this country you/we might have enough time.

thanks Nilly :)
We put some pattypan in last year and they came to nothing so won't be growing them again. I think someone else on here didn't get much off them
a mate of ours grew his in the communal polytunnel, he got loads of squash and they were huge..mind you, no-one could get past them ;D
I don't know about starting them off now I'm afraid - but I am growing sunbeam and they are cropping really well. Off 4 plants I've had maybe half a dozen so far and there are about another 15 small ones developing. They also seem fairly immune to the powdery mildew that my other squash are suffering from.
Did you sow any in the end?
This is what mine looked like today(closest is Patty Pan and the other is a yellow scallop.
