When i was weeding the plot today i came across some lovely lemon smelling plant, it had simular looking leaves as mint.
I put about 8 young leaves in a cup of boiling water and it tasted quite nice, thought i would grow some more herbs for making tea at the plot.
Does anyone have any cuttings that are nice for tea?
or can suggest what seeds/plants to buy.
I don't really have anything to swap but would be happy to refund any postage cost.
Neil
The plant you made the tea with was lemon balm.
My favourite non-tea tea is nettle tea, you could also grow Chamomile, and there is also raspberry leaf tea.
But don't drink raspberry leaf tea if pregnant, not until the later stages anyway. Herb teas are not always as simple as they sound. It won't apply to Nilly ;) but someone else might be.
Hiya, Neil..when our chamomile stops flowering, i could send you a root if you'd like it, you use the dried flowers for your tea..I also use mint and lemon balm..nice ;D
Mint is nice, so is rosemary, strangely enough (or perhaps it's just me!) but my fave at the moment is Lemon Verbena (Yummmmmmm :P).
I'm trying to do some cuttings at the moment on Debp's advice ... hopefully take some to Saddad's Septemberfest!!
Thanks for the replies

Neil
it's the flowers you want, Neil..I dry them but you can use them fresh :)
I'm still after herbs for tea if anyone has seeds or cuttings :)
Neil
just taken some orange mint cuttings if you want one, not got roots yet..do you want me to send it when it's rooted?I presume you can make tea from this..
my lemon verbena is getting bigger. too
Thanks for the offer :D
Do you think i would be best to wait until the verbina is ready or plant the orange mint now?
Do you want any verigated apple mint?
Neil
the orange mint will be ready very soon, it's been in the pot for a week, the verbena could be another month before it's big enough to take cuttings, I'll check the mint tomorrow and let you know..btw, got loads of variegated mint, thanks :)
I'll wait until the verbina is ready, if thats ok with you.
Neil
