Title: Cauliflowers
Post by: PurpleHeather on July 14, 2009, 12:10:31
Has any one else noticed that these are a bit small this year?

We all grow them on our allotment site but sadly no one is getting the usual good crop.

Generally everything else is as good if not better than ever before but the caulis are tiny. Needing to serve them as a one whole one per person veg instead of getting four or more servings from each

My Candid Charm are growing very well at the moment.  Some are slightly smaller than a small plate but are still growing day by day.  I noticed the heads started forming about 10-14 days ago.

Just to be different, we have had the best yield of cauliflowers ever, a row of 12 with average heads 12" across.
Apart from being walled-in with enviromesh and net, all they got was an odd watering, and some growmore.  A tribute to benign neglect!
