How big do they get? I've got one fruit and wouldn't like to waste it by leaving it too long!

I had my best year last year for aubergines, touch wood ok this year, I find them the hardest vegetable to grow / shades x

I think I'll give up after this year if I don't get any more fruit- dread to thinkwhat I've spent on black bucketfuls of compost over the last few years!
I grew them last year Caroline, they got to about large avocado size. I found they set very few fruits despite hand pollination, so haven't bothered this year! :-\
I grow mine in the greenhouse in the freeby black buckets and they are doing really well - one of 4ins and lots more!
Trying Violetta as well, but they are much slower and are just beginning to set fruit.
The first time I grew them was in the very hot summer a few years ago and they did well outside, but the following years were a waste of time as there just wasn't the heat - so it is greenhouse only.
I found Calliope pretty good outdoors compared to some others (Kermit and Fairy Tale). This year Ophelia appears to be the race leader of the small ones and Bonica of the full size.
What size should they be now? (in order not to be killed off by cold weather before they are worth eating!)
Mine are in a growbag under a makeshift plastic shelter and there are only two fruits, each about the size of marbles..
