Title: Paper pot maker
Post by: landimad on July 12, 2009, 11:45:20
All,
Could someone point me in the right direction with regard to getting hold of a paper pot maker. I remember years ago of a item to help people make their pots from newspapers and odd bits.
I lost the contact that had one as he passed away and would like to know if there is any left out there or whether one could be purchased.

Sorry, not the one I had been looking for. But a good example of what can be used.
The one from the passed you were able to make different sized ones. They produced ones from 3" to 5" in size. Darn it if I can't remember where this mate bought it. :(

You don't need to buy a pot maker to make paper pots, this thread & the other threads linked to within it lists loads of alternative ways to make them without spending any money.

Not what I was looking for but it may do for the seedlings.

someone gave me a paper pot maker, but i've never used it. It's just as easy to make them yourself, and you can adjust the size of the pots to suit

I prefer to use the 'peat pots' you can get in Wilko or PoundLand.

The newspaper pots I made were quite useless.

I make my paper pots around a glass as its easy to slide off when made.

If you are desperate to give away money, just sent it to me and Ill find something usefull to spend the £12.99 on.  ;D

Seems like we all want a bit of cash in the hand.  ;D
I just want to make some pots and keep the cash for me self.
Sorry but this is getting money based and we all know that this is the route of all evil.
Tell you what we all keep our own money and ask the goverment to give us theirs too.
What say all of you, happy with that idea? ;)

Here in Denmark, most of our milk comes in cartons.............very useful they are too as modules.

Bjerreby,
Over here there is to much emphasis on plastic. Milk containers, wrapping for fresh food, covers over large items and more. I think we should do away with all this plastic as it will take decades for it to break down if at all. Corporations should look at their packaging and change for the better not for convenience and cost reduction.

Sorry soap box broken and need to get a new one. ;)

Its the same in Denmark. Plastic everywhere. Plastic rakes, plastic trowels, you have to put your garden waste in clear plastic bags before dumping it with the council (few Danes make compost, it is generally thought improper to have rotting plants piled up in the garden), plastic flower pots and troughs, plastic lawn edging, plastic rainfall gauges, plastic plant labels (I like them though).

Milk cartons are the exception. I suspect Tetrapak owns the nordic dairies. :)

ON Bjerreby's idea how about the tetrapak type juice cartons we get here.

Alternatively  glasses of the width you want your pot to be.

Ive rolled mine round my fingers for tiny seedling ones, ok they were not perfect circles but I dont think the seedlings complained  ;D

save spending out your money on something.
