I own a piece of land which is not connected to my home and is at the other end of the village. The site has not been cleared for at least 8 years and has 2 meter high brambles. There are smallish trees all around it and there are no properties directly adjacent to it. Do I need to ask the local Parish council for permission to clear the site and use it as an allotment.
If so what is the process to be followed.

If it's your land just crack on with clearing it, I can't see it being a problem. ;D ;D ;D
Just because you own a piece of land doesn't mean you can do what you want with it. It depends on how the land is currently designated (i.e. residential, commercial, agricultural etc) as to what you can legally do and depending on how it's designated, you might have to apply for change of use. Talk to your local planning department.
its had planning turned down for a dwelling twice and knowing our local Parish council it will never get planning. You are right thou, a call to the local planning office will head me in the right direction.
I do hope they see sense, we have church owned allotments down the road and the latest is that they are planning on selling up for development. Madness!! I have been on the waiting list for 3yrs with no luck. the rs going to be a lot of unhappy growers in the near future.

If it is designated agricultural land you can have allotments. There has been a previous thread quoting the case.
