Just had aphone call to say the me Moms in Hospital again. She has very bad cellulitis in her legs. She was poorly this morning and the careworker called the doc in. When he saw the state of her legs he was not amused, He sent her straight to the hospital for intraveinous antibiotics. I spoke to the distict nurse earlier in the week about her poor legs and asked her to get a specialist appt. Just hope that she gets the treatment she needs now.
Its so worrying when our parents are suffering, hope all works out ok for her and that she recovers quickly x
sorry to hear your mom's not too good, Shirl..I don't know, we're a constant worry to them when we're small and they are a constant worry to us as they get older ..hope she gets treated a.s.a.p..Ray's mum has ulcers on her legs, this is 18 months and still getting treated twice a week :(
Sorry to here your mom is poorly. They should sort it out in hospital for her, but it is a worry. Hope she is better soon.
hope she gets better soon
Hope mum gets better soon.
She has a great carer, i deal with elderly and vunrable all the time at work and some of the carers don't get involved with calling doctors as they don't have time (not knocking carers as i think they do a great job). Some even call us to call ambulances :o

Went to see her this afternoon and she looked quite poorly and was very disorientated. Her blood sugar was way up so she was put on a drip. her legs had been left unbandaged and when I looked I couldn't believe how bad they were.Lets hope that this time they get things sorted.
healing vibes from this direction, shirl!! ;)
At least she's in the best place for treatment now Shirl. I'll get those Essex special healing vibes to work immediately. ;)
Thanks for the vibes folks
QuoteShe has very bad cellulitis in her legs
Had this last November - no joke. Very painful indeed. You have to spend the time with your legs above your heart - not very comfortable. Then when you put them down onto the floor to go to the loo it's total agony. She has my every sympathy.
Hated it in hospital they treated me as if I'd lost my brain. Do not eat wheat and they only managed one wheat free meal a day. Then they moved me to a different ward but did not move the special bed so I had to prop up my leg on pillows, but they then said that I had too many pillows and would not give me any extra to support my head and shoulders.
Had it again in Feb but that time got the antibiotics much quicker. Now have a set on the shelf just in case.
She's really going through it Shirl...massive vibes from me too, and if she remembers....love from the posh one ;D ;D ;D
All the v.v.v.best to you too; it's hard being the sole supporter, innit? Glad you got Ower Tone, gal 8)
Healing thoughts and positive energy being sent from this end too. I hope your mum is soon on the mend.
(((hugs))) and positive vibes to you too whilst you are supporting her.
Hope your mum gets better soon.
Sending get well soon wishes :)
I can empathise with your mum i have had cellulitus a few times and it does make you feel very ill :( older people in hospital do get disorientated very quickly but that should get better as the infection is treated.
Sending her some strong vibes to get her up and about soon and a hug for you as its a worrying time (((((((((hugs))))))))))))

i've really fallen behind on all the threads and i'm finally catching up. so just saw this. i do hope your mum is feeling a little better with the treatment she is recieving, sending her healing thoughts.
The hospital called Moms care home on Tuesday and asked them to come and assess her for going back to the home on Friday. They couldn't get hold of me so they phoned our Sal (daughter) who's a nurse. They said that they were concerned that the hospital were discharging her too early as they had before and were worried that she would go straight downhill again. Our Sal phoned the hospital and told them that they should contact her before sending Mom home and that she wanted a detailed care plan for treatment of her diabetes and infected legs..We are going to leave it to her because being a nurse she knows more than we do.................................Went to see Mom last night and she had an oxygen mask on. Still on a drip and just as confused and her legs were still weeping through the bandages.
such a shame, shirley :-\
glad your daughter has got involved, Sam does the same for us, thank goodness :)

Shirl so sorry to hear your Mum's still poorly but glad your daughters involved. She will know this, I'm sure, but the hospital should have a discharge meeting with family invited and the home and agree a discharge plan with care plan included BEFORE discharge. Dig your heels in if they dont agree.
Well our Moms out of hospital now and after a bit of persuasion from our Sally everything has been put in place for her ongoing care. I really can't say enough about the girls that care for her. They are really amazing. They are willing to go the extra mile for their residents.I worked in care meself so I know what its all about. They were so glad to see our Mom back with them
They said that it was like welcoming a part of their family back home. We really couldn't wish for anything better. Thankyou for all your good wishes and believe me they do make a difference.
Hope your mum will be OK shirl,a lot of worry for you.
That's good to hear shirl. Hopefully, she's on the up and up now
