Title: Daisy ID!
Post by: lewic on July 08, 2009, 20:53:01
Does anyone know what these are? Was given some roots in spring from a friend who doesnt know either. They are about 3 foot high, but can grow to 5 foot, flowers about 4" across. Have been warned they can be rather invasive, but they are very pretty!

Looks like a variety of perennial sunflower to me, which would match the 'invasive' description. The bees love them! Try a search for Helianthus 'Monarch' and see if it matches up.

Here are some pics of the leaves .. they do look a bit like mini sunflowers! The petals on Monarch dont look quite as spiky as these though.

Give it a couple of years and you`ll start digging it up - every year - and every year after that - and in  10 years time you`ll still be digging it up
