Don't have a cherry de - stoner -- does anyone have a DIY method where I don't have to cut the cherry in half ?

I steamed my cherries, let them cool down and then squished each stone out by hand.
It was a bit messy, but I am using them for pie filling.
Mine are stella cherries.
