Don't look if 8 legs scare you!

Caught this spider on camera today, she was on the side of one of my greenhouses. The body was about 20mm long.

Turns out she is a Wasp Spider, common on Mainland Europe and now it seems in Southern England.

Used to have the usual "horror" of spiders before I gradually became accustomed to them on the allotment, now don't run, scream or get the shakes when I am close to one outside but am still not tooooo keen on them in the house but can  talk coherently enough to ask Mr W to remove it to "safety".   Always say to g'kids that they are so much bigger than the poor wee spider that they shouldn't be frightened!

Anyway Sanders that is a beaut!

Oh, that's a beauty, Jerry. We have small black and white stripey spiders, but none as exotic as yours!
