Post by: grannyjanny on July 03, 2009, 21:03:05
Has anyone tried this pea & if so what was the verdict. Is it worth sowing some now.

Why not plant a few and find out.

Well I thought I was growing them but they seem to have got muddled up with my golden podded peas.  ;D Its a mange tout so would have thought it was a bit late to grow them now, but could easily be wrong. I'm certainly putting them on my grow again list for  next year.

You might get a crop given a long summer.

I rate them highly but this year my garden has been so dry all but the smallest pods have gone `fibrous` already :(

Ah, didn't realise that dry conditions caused them to be fibrous, that explains a lot. Have found that the aforementioned yellow podded that I'm picking now are not fibrous - at least not yet!

Do you sow these like say, kelvedon wonder, as in scattering them in a shallow trench? I know they need support.
