Title: Potato seeds and onion sets
Post by: Jesse on October 02, 2004, 09:20:00
I want to grow a few varieties of potato and onion but if I order them all then I'll have far more than I am able to grow. If I buy one variety of onion and potato then perhaps I can swap for others?

Here's what i plan to order:

Potato - Desiree (Early Maincrop) 1.5kg (anyone know how many seeds I'll get in a bag that size?) Have decided to buy from garden centre as I am able to select individually rather than by the sack
Onion sets - Red Brunswick 0.5kg pack (approx 150 sets)

Here's what I would like to swap for:

Potato - Duke of York, Kestrel
Onion sets (not seeds please) - Any largish sized white onion

I also plan to grow the following veg. If I can't swap for these then I plan to buy them so if you have any of these seeds or want any of them let me know, perhaps we can arrange a "share buy" or swap:

Broccoli - Purple Sprouting Early, RomanescoCarrot - Amsterdam Forcing, Autumn King
Cauliflower - Snowball
Celery - Green Utah
Courgette/squash, All Green Bush, Jemmer F1 (golden zucchini), Patty Pans
Leek - Argenta
Spinach - Atlanta
Swiss Chard, Bright Lights
Sweetcorn - Kelvedon Glory F1
Tomato - Golden Sunrise, Outdoor Girl, St Pierre, Roma
Sweet Basil
Coriander - Leisure
Calendula - Orange King
Nasturtium- Peach Melba
Sunflower - Any large variety
Climbing French Beans - Blue Lake, Cosse Violette
Runner Beans - Polestar

:)

Hi Teresa, if you could spare about 20 seeds of each that would be great. Let me know what you'd like to swap for. What I am not able to get through swap I will buy so if there are any seeds you like in my want list let me know, I will be able to swap most of what I have listed above. I forgot to say in my first message that the seeds/sets will be delivered in January.

hi Jess,
i have enough to share of:
broccoli early purple sprouting and romanesco,
sweet basil,
and cauli snowball.
i've also got some broccoli summer purple sprouting (wok brocc, as t+m call it!) which you sow spring and harvest the same year june-sept, so it doesn't stand as long as others, if you are interested. let me know,
kerry. :)

i'd be interested in celery-is it trench or self-blanching-haven't grown that before, like a challenge!
also either of the french beans and the golden courgette if that's not too greedy!
do you want to PM your details, and tell me how many seeds you want of the veg? do you want me to copy out the sowing instructions etc for you?

On delivery I'll have Turbo, Stuttgart and Sturon sets if you're interested in any of them. I'll also have 18 varieties of potato left in small quantities. Also Golden Gourmet and Red Sun shallots. If you only want small amounts I'll be happy to send them in exchange for some sunflower seeds.
