this has popped up by the pond, I think it's from a bulb as I planted all sorts from my ma in law, no idea of names..either that or from the wildflower seeds but I don't think so ??? :)

Looks a bit like a corn lily to me but in an unusual form.
I think its of the Ixia family.

Did you get some of the free bulbs from J Parker? I have some of those coming up from the freebies - I think it's Sparaxis.

I agree with Greenstar - my mum got the Parkers free bulbs and her little garden has been a picture with these scattered round.

thanks, folks, so it's a bulb, yes, I did get the ones from parkers and so did my mum in law, she didn't have space for some so I planted them around the pond, mine are at home but no signs of these yet, lovely colour ;D
