Post by: lightyears on June 29, 2009, 22:55:53

A decent haul there.  I can only manage carrots when grown in containers.  They are always a failure when direct sowing in the ground.... ???

Hears another, we went on holiday and forgot to take up the rest of our earlys, the results weight just under 100 pound (45KG).

Regarding the cali question, i dont really know why yours didnt come up, mine didnt till about 3 weeks ago then they took off. i dug in plenty of chicken pellets during the winter though?

What a brilliant harvest. Such a lovely time of year when all the hard work starts to pay off. At the moment we are digging up our charlotte potatoes and they taste fantastic. We also have broccoli, cabbages, spinach, lettuces and our wintering onions are ready. I dug up my Jermor shallots a few weeks ago and I have a great crop this year. We have gooseberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, and strawberries (though they keep being eaten by something). Courgettes are just starting to look decent too. I am really pleased with things so far with more to come.  busy_lizzie  :D
