Title: artichorke

we have a artichoke growing in my veg patch it has small yellow flowers and is very tall.is this normal if so where do the artichoke grow on the plant

There are two totally unrelated types of artichoke.  Jerusalem which have yellow flowers and you eat the root.  The other are Globe which look like a big thistle and you eat the flower head. Sounds like you should be eaching the root.
