Title: Aubergines - when should flowers turn to fruits?
Post by: hild on June 26, 2009, 19:50:20
I've got three aubergine plants in my conservatory and they keep producing lots of pretty flowers, but as of yet not an inkling of fruitage...  Is there anything I ought to be doing by way of pollinating them?  And if so, how do I tell the difference between male and female flowers? :-\ ???

...or am I just impatient?

I'm fairly certain the flowers are selfs... like toms, with male and female bits.. might be too hot in the conservatory? try tapping the stems in the evening or a very fine spray again in the evening (but I do find them prone to scorch so very fine!!)  :-\

We had quite a few flowers drop off before the first fruit set, they're doing great now though and should be picking the first one this weekend. It's been pretty hot which has probably helped but kept them well watered and fed and fingers crossed for a good crop.

I agree that it's been pretty hot which has probably helped but kept them well watered and fed and fingers crossed for a good crop.
