Not sure if this is supposed to go in Wildlife or Pests and Diseases..
Pulled back some plastic I'd had down for a few months so I could dig a hole to put a squash in.. and found this :P Had to get some photos, but got bitten a few times in the process. Ants crawling all over the camera and in my hair.. I swear they can jump, just like slugs!

We moved a slab at the weekend and had a similar experience...they all "grabbed" the white cocoon things and pulled them down tunnels
Doesn't bother me but can't even say "Nits" or fleas without scratching... ::)
they taste very sweet when you can get them without the ants ;D
The ants like the warmth. I haven't heard of ant pupae being eaten, but in some parts of the world they dip flying ants in honey and eat those.
It tends to be red ant eggs that are eaten particularly in Thailand where they are called 'Kai Mot Daeng'.
I must name drop for this reply ;D.
Lord & lady Clauson, once bought some ants in chocalate :o for me when i was there nanny, many many years ago. No i never tried one much to there surprise. ;D.
I have huge admiration for them! Even in their panic as their nest is being invaded by humans their primary thought is "the babies" I hate having to kill them - but sometimes there is no alternative!
Funnily enough - did you know that ant killer kills only black ants - not red ants? Anyone know how to get rid of red ants? I would use boiling water but haven't any power up the lotty!!
Old Bird

Take a flask full of boiling water. ;D
A little borax mixed with jam.
