Title: Epsom salt - how much to use?
Post by: hild on June 20, 2009, 19:47:52
I've got several tomatoes in the conservatory (aka the greenhouse) and as it gets jolly hot in there (it's south-facing) I have to do a lot of watering.  I have been feeding with Tomorite, but it looks as if the toms are a bit magnesium deficient so I have procured some Epsom salt from the chemist.  However, the only instructions on the box relates to mild constipation  :o and that's not of much help regarding my toms!  I'm assuming I just dissolve the salt in some luke-warmish water, but how much should I use and how much per plant?  :-\

Dilute a tablespoon of Epsom salt in a gallon of water  will do fine .
You can use it a s foliar spray as well for blossom drop at the same dilution.

Some people just sprinkle a little in a ring around the plant.

Thanks guys, at least I know that the amount I'd used wasn't going to kill the plants!  Seems an awful lot what they said in that article, but at least I know that I can use it quite liberally.  And Robert was actually my mothers father!  ;D
