Hi I have just Obtained some Frankenthaler Vines, I do not have a green house. Have I wasted my money? All opinions please good, bad and ugly.

I have a vine outside but it is Regent... nothing so exotic...  ::)

Frankenthaler is the same as Black Hamburg  - apparently a very popular indoor grape but I think a dessert rather than wine variety.

Although the GH does not need to be heated for it to be ok, per the guide I've read, it's unlikely to fruit well (or at all) outdoors except in long hot summers.  If you have a south facing brick wall to grow it against that would improve your chances. I'm afraid I don't know very much about grapes (mine only went in recently) but perhaps surrounding it with a fleece/polythene tent for the winter would work? Vines are prone to mildew so  you'd have to watch the airflow.
