'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ban the use
of Neonicotinoid insecticides in crops grown within the united
kingdom.'
If anyone wants to sign it, I'm passing the url on. Take care folks Val.
Although we keep bees and think that they're a worthy cause, I shan't be signing this petition.
It would be so much better to be able to quote reputable studies rather than talk about "a plethora of recent studies ... implicating". There aren't that many studies, sadly nothing like a plethora, and they don't implicate, merely mention insecticides as a possibility.
Of course bees are sometimes poisoned by insecticides. They are, after all, insects. The best answer is communication between farmer and beekeeper, so that bees can be prevented from foraging on days when insecticides are being sprayed nearby.
And why don't the authors of so many of these petitions at least do the Prime Minister and all of us the courtesy of asking someone to check their spelling, grammar, and style? This one looks as though it was penned by an eight year old.
Well, I don't know.......this "8 yr old" knows the difference between "effect" and "affect", even if they can't get the plural possessive of "honeybees' " quite right.
Are their stated facts actually incorrect?
Though I like how the text has been compounded synergistically into a single sentence.
