Well checking over lottie this afternoon noticed a movement. Mouse/Rat to quick for the snake so slowly moved down the bottom to see a squirrel sitting onthe carpet watching what I was going to do.
I had to laugh he was huge and beautiful with winter coat. What was he after the leftover sweetcorn that had not matured.
Wheres the camera when you want it.
A grey squirrel, Teresa?
Yes a grey one with red tips to the fur.
You see very few red around here some have been released. Have seen them running accross a busy road frightens me to, but not real local pity.
We've not got any grey squirrels at all up our way, only red. They are very cheeky and nosey, busy munching beech nuts at this time of year.
Oh Spurdie you are lucky to still have red squirrels. I only have grey ones in the garden and I chase them whenever I see them! They do so much damage to bulbs (and the bird feeders).
We have only ever seen one squirrel in the wood 100 yards from our house. We've heard another one chittering as well, but only see one at a time! It's great to see it jumping from branch to branch overhead.
Hi Spurdie, do they do the same amount of damage as the greys? ;D
;D Val, I have no idea! They don't come into our garden. They DO strip the bark off trees in the wood, but then so do deer (at a lower level of course!). Had a tawny owl screeching in the garden last night. What a racket! I'm hoping it might catch the mouse that has gained entry to my shed AGAIN. So far it has turned its nose up at twixes, so I'll have to get the cheese out!
Spurdie try peanut butter as bait! My sister laughed at me, but it enticed her mouse into the trap! ;D
OH RATS! I had the last of the peanut butter on my toast yesterday. >:(
i am not so lucky to see squirrels just quite a few rats
i think i will get the gun out
I can assure you that having squirrels in your garden is not lucky! If you get your gun out bring it up here please and shoot the varmins.I get peanuts growing in my lawn, holes dug everywhere and the birds cant get anything because of them.No if you want squirrels you can have half a dozen of mine.
There is (allegedly) a weasel on our lottie in bexley, kent. Couldn't belive it when they told me
A piece of uncooked rasher-or bacon- on a trap is guaranteed to get the nasties...
good luck emptying the trap. I'd throw the whole thing away to not have to empty it!!!
